Introduction to the contest

Life science research has entered the era of data-driven, where rapidly evolving algorithms and tools have become key elements for innovative discoveries. MICOS-EU 2024 expands the MICOS competition into a wider global community. Invited by a local partner in Serbia, we have chosen Europe as the host location for this competition in 2024. The goal is to promote the cross-regional exchange of technology and talent to drive new advancements and discoveries in scientific research in omics and related sciences, particularly focused on promoting the international application and development of data science within the life sciences.

Contest Setting

The spatial transcriptomics technology Stereo-seq is an in situ capture spatial omics sequencing technology that can achieve "nanometer resolution" and "centimeter-level panoramic view of the market". The continuous development of Stereo-seq technology enables the simultaneous measurement of multi-modal and multi-omics data in the same slice, including image information such as HE/mIF and spatial transcriptome data, as well as simultaneous measurement of spatial membrane protein and transcriptome data. Extracting and integrating multi-modal information can provide a more comprehensive interpretation of the data. The organizers hope that participants can apply, improve, and develop algorithms suitable for integrating and analyzing spatial multi-modal data, while ensuring the accuracy of the analysis results, and achieving the goal of reducing algorithm memory consumption and improving computational speed.
